In Harbour lights I wanted to create an abstract painting which was full of the movement of water and the rippled lights of the buildings surrounding it. I had been taking an evening stroll around the harbour when the play of light dancing in the water struck me as a beautiful painting in its own right without the boats, without the people, simply the water and the lights and the gentle movement.
