Personally I was a snob and never even knowingly tried Johnnie Walker straight until someone gave me a dram from a 60's bottle and it was a big surprise. They usually achieve amazing consistency between years but when you go back 40 or more years you can tell that over time it has got a lot less interesting and complex and by the nineties it became basically a cocktail mixer and now needs tonic, coke
