Vermillion Painted Mica Indian Peacock Doors - 18thC Material - Zinc slender proportions and softly pointedThis fabulous carved rosewood door is from Udaipur in Rajasthan. The carving shows a strong Mughal influence and the mihrab is carved in the shape of a resplendent peacock tail. This original door dates from the 18th century. The background still has its original vermillion & cinnabar paint and the panels are inset with mica which would have sparkled in candlelight.
