Enfield Architectural Tile of a Ship Native American The design is tubelinedThis large 10" square architectural tile was made at the Enfield Pottery (1906 1930) in Enfield Pennsylvania. Pressed into the clay is an image of the Spanish Galleon "Santa Maria". The ship tile is covered in a lighter terra cotta red slip which has an ethereal quality that makes it a little pearlescent in places. This, its whopping 1 1 2" thickness, and the deep carving of the image leads me to believe its original purpose was for an outdoor
